Tom Hammick British, b. 1963

“Tom Hammick creates exquisitely crafted, visionary woodcuts. He is a master of colour”

Tom Hammick is a British painter and printmaker. He was the winner of the V&A Prize at the International Print Biennale, Newcastle in 2016. His work is held in major public collections around the world, including the British Museum, the V&A ,The Biblioteque National, Paris, The Library of Congress Print Collection, USA, Minesotta Art Gallery Collection and the New York Library Collection amongst many others.

Tom has described landscape in his work as a metaphor to explore an “imaginary and mythological dreamscape.” There are a series of recurring elements, exploring themes such as space and the isolated figure. Drawing from a wide range of sources, from Japanese woodblock prints to Northern European Romantic painting and contemporary cinema, he manipulates his chosen theme into a minimalist dreamscape.
