Distinctive artist working in both oils and watercolours who employs colour emotively to convey her response to places and events
Jenny Wheatley has been producing ambitious oils and watercolours for more than 35 years. Working both en plein air and in the studio, her work encompasses the emotive use of colour to convey her personal response to places and times of importance in her life. Her work emanates from careful drawing and observation along with the collecting of objects and ideas in situ as she moves through the world. It culminates in composing them to describe a mood, an idea, or a simple joy of character and place.
As an educator, Jenny Wheatley has taught on various courses, acted as a judge on Channel Four’s Watercolour Challenge (in both 2000 and 2001) and published the book Adventurous Watercolours (2011). Her work sits in many public and private collections worldwide, including that of HRH The Queen and the Maltese National Collection. Jenny works comfortably in watercolour, oil and acrylic and has completed a number of corporate commissions as well as many one-person shows in private galleries throughout her career.
Having lived in Margate, Kent, for many years, Jenny Wheatley is now based in Portloe, on the south coast of Cornwall.
