Contemporary British Impressionist artist painting en plein air
Edward Noott is an impressionist-inspired artist who was born in England. He took a Foundation Course at the Cheltenham College of Art and later studied at Trent Polytechnic College of Art, where he gained a BA in Fine Art. He furthered his studies at the State University of New York, Oneonta, N.Y.
Edward has exhibited at the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, the Royal Birmingham Society of Painters, Royal West of England Academy and the Laing Art Gallery, Newcastle upon Tyne. The son of John Noott, one-man exhibitions have been held at the galleries in Broadway annually since 1993, together with solo exhibitions in London and the provinces plus many exhibitions in the USA.
Preferring to work in oils, with an extensive choice of subject matter, Edward paints outdoors in the tradition of the British and French Impressionists - en plein air, directly recording and capturing the essence of the scene. The spontaneity that is achieved via this method is evident in the final work, which exudes an immediacy that is finely balanced against a subtle delicacy of detail.
